Founded in 2017,the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic has quickly become a trusted center for
excellence in medical care, housing some of the most distinguished specialists
and surgeons in the fields of ENT, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, General
Surgery, Urology, and General Practice/Gerontology. In collaboration with other
highly skilled doctors and surgeons, our dedicated team also includes esteemed
anesthesiologists Dr. med. Claire Hadjikakou, Dr. Stalo Argyridou, and Dr.
Vangelis Vavoudakis. Since joining GESY in 2020, we have continued to uphold
the highest standards of treatment while maintaining exceptional levels of
patient satisfaction. Committed to continuous improvement, we strive to

Dr. Michalis Papamichalopoulos
ENT Surgeon (Otorhinolaryngologist)
He was born in Famagusta in 1957. He graduated from Agios Georgios High School in Larnaca in 1975 and he studied Medicine at the University of Iași, Romania, where he graduated in 1984. Dr. Papamichalopoulos specialized in Otolaryngology at the University of Athens. In 1992 he was appointed to the Larnaca General Hospital, where he worked until 1999. In 1995 he was postdoctored at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery with a Fulbright scholarship.
He has been practicing at the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic since 2017.
Dr. Sotos Loizides
General Surgeon
Dr. Loizides was born in Cyprus in 1940. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 1964. He began his surgical training in the United Kingdom in 1965 and has been practicing General Surgery in Cyprus since 1972.
He has been practicing at the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic since 2017 and is registered with the General Healthcare System (GHS).
Dr. Varnavas Tziouvas
Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr.Tziouvas was born in 1949 in Nicosia. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Athens in 1975 and completed his specialty training in Orthopedics in 1980. He has been practicing orthopedic surgery since 1981.
He has been practicing at the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic since 2017 and is registered with the General Healthcare System (GHS).
Dr. George Tanteles
Orthopedic Surgeon

Born in 1947 in Famagusta, Dr. Tanteles graduated from the Medical University of Athens in 1972. He specialized in Orthopedic Surgery in the UK and has practiced in this field since 1997. He is an Overseas Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association.
He has been practicing at the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic since 2017 and and is registered with the General Healthcare System (GHS).
Dr. Pavlos Pavlou
Specialist Doctor – Gastroenterologist - Interventional Endoscopist
Dr. Pavlou graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and also studied at the University of California, Berkeley.
He completed his specialty training in Gastroenterology at Bethesda Academic Hospital KH Duisburg in Germany, where he continued practicing until June 2019. He then worked at Nicosia General Hospital until November 2020.
His clinical focus includes inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis), functional gastrointestinal disorders (e.g., IBS), and interventional endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, EMR, ERCP, stenting, and dilations.
He has also taught at the medical schools of the University of Cyprus and the European University of Cyprus.
He has been practicing at the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic since December 2020 aand is registered with the General Healthcare System (GHS).

Dr. Marios Kyriazis
Specialist Pathologist and Gerontologist Director, National Gerontology Centre, Cyprus
Specialty Chief Editor, Frontiers in Geriatric Medicine
Dr. Kyriazis studied Medicine in Italy and received clinical training in Cyprus, New York, and the UK. He holds an MSc in Gerontology from the University of London and a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians. He also earned a Doctor of Science (DSc) degree in Medical Research.
He is a scientific advisor to several journals in anti-aging and gerontology and is active in promoting gerontology at the policy level. He has published over 1,200 scientific and public-oriented articles and has authored numerous books.
Dr. Kyriazis founded the National Gerontology Centre in Cyprus to advance healthy aging.
He has been practicing at the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic since April 2025 and is registered with the General Healthcare System (GHS).

Dr. Tasos Matsagos
ENT Surgeon (Otorhinolaryngologist)
Dr. Matsagos is a graduate of the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace. He completed his specialization in Otorhinolaryngology through training programs in Athens, Nicosia, and Bavaria, Germany.
He holds a Master’s degree focusing on diseases of the nose, facial region, and skull base. His special interests include nasal disorders and aesthetic facial surgery.
He has been practicing at the New Phaneromeni Polyclinic since 2024 and is registered with the General Healthcare System (GHS).
